North America meets South America in an epic rematch
After Anderson “The Spider” Silva’s defeat at the hands of Chris “The All-American” Weidman at UFC 168 in Las Vegas, the Brazilian Jui-Jitsu legend vows to take back what he lost after he got knocked via a hard-hitting punch during the second round. Check your MMA lines at SportsBettingOnline.ag for this fight where the Brazilian fighter, hailed by many fans and critics as the number one pound-for-pound mixed martial arts fighter of all time, is training hard right now before he faces Weidman once again in the Octagon. Fans are already hyped up for their anticipated rematch come December 28, and all bets are now on who’s the going to bag the crown before the year end.
With Silva suffering from a knockout from Weidman, the entire UFC fan base is split in rooting for the victor. The Silva camp says that the fighter is ready to deliver a seething revenge against the American fighter. Meanwhile, followers of Weidman are confident that the grappler can once again prove to the whole world that Silva is no longer the king of the ring. With the odds almost equally split between the two, how will these two fighters showcase their wits and skills as they face one another for the second time?
“Silva not gonna mess around, but…”
In an interview published at MMA Junkie, fellow fighter Michael Chiesa believes that Silva will take the fight seriously this time. However, the 26-year old fighter says that UFC 168 will end up with Weidman bagging another W from Silva at the 185-pound division, denying the latter a chance to reclaim his victory.
“I think Anderson’s not going to mess around obviously,” he said. “There’s not going to be any of this (dancing around). I think Anderson is going to be a little more smart this fight. I think he’s going to be very aggressive. I’ve still got Weidman, though. Anderson’s still a phenomenal fighter. He could beat 99 percent of the guys in the UFC, but I feel like it’s Chris Weidman’s time.”
But what do the odds say?
While some experts predicted that the aging striker will once again bow down to Weidman, the betting odds are saying otherwise. Despite losing to the American fighter last July, bettors still go all in with Silva, primarily because of his status as the greatest mixed martial artist today. Looking at the single odds at British betting exchange site Betfair , Silva stands at 1.68 while Weidman’s odds are 2.42, which is rare case because rematch odds are always at the side of the previous victory.
While the odds say a lot about the possible outcome of the fight, the only thing fans can do is wait until December 28 to see who the best fighter is. Will it be Silva, whose reputation has already been cemented in the MMA world? Or does the cage belong now to the new king, Chris Weidman? Whoever is going to win, only time will tell.
